The Aasha Foundation is looking for volunteers for activities with the girls who live at the Sharanam Centre for Girls during the month of May and beyond. We have a wide variety of exciting volunteer opportunities including engaging in sports/recreational activities with primary school kids, mentoring teenagers, arts & crafts, and also need assistance with transportation (borrowing a car/driver for a few hours some afternoons).
The Sharanam Centre, located in Dharavi just 20 minutes from Bandra, provides a safe, permanent home for 30 girls currently between the 2nd-12th grades. The girls attend quality outside schools, speak English, are computer-savvy (with Facebook accounts and gmail), and are talented dancers and artists. The Aasha Foundation is a US-registered charitable organization run by expat and AWC member Karen Doff. Aasha provides the Sharanam girls with extensive enrichment support designed to help the girls achieve independence and pursue their dreams.

Milk Maids
Just a reminder…. Coffee Mornings are offered free of charge, however we rely on your generous contributions to provide milk and other necessities to the Mother Theresa Orphanage in Vile Parle. The Sisters and support staff are caring individuals who have a 24-hr job and handle it with sensitivity and grace…those babies are in good hands. Please look for the big Baby Bottle displayed at each Coffee Morning and kindly make a donation to support this worthy institution.
